  • Laboratory staff
  • The main tasks of the laboratory:
    • Development of theoretical and methodological foundations of modern breeding technologies;
    • Creation of new highly efficient breeding technologies that significantly accelerate the time for obtaining new varieties and reduce the amount of breeding work based on the use of agrophysical methods of studying the genotype-environment interaction in the controlled conditions and the molecular marker method;
    • Improvement of methods for studying the intraspecific diversity of various crops and the reaction of genotypes to stressful influences in a controlled conditions.
  • Main directions of scientific research
    • The development of the theory of ecological-genetic organization of quantitative characters of plants (TEGOQP).
    • The study of the phenomena of heterosis and transgression.
    • Improving the breeding methodology for obtaining new forms of crops with predictable economically valuable properties.
    • The study of the localization of the genes of economically valuable characters of bread wheat using molecular markers (QTL analysis).
    • Study of the biological diversity of vegetable and grain crops in controlled conditions for the identification of perspective cultivars and their involvement in the breeding process.
    • Creation of promising early maturity, highly productive forms of vegetable crops adapted to the conditions of light culture.
    • Investigation of the biochemical characteristics of various genotypes of stevia when the light regimes of growing change, and the creation of a strategy for its selective improvement during introduction into a specific region of Russia.
  • Services, output product
    • Screening of various varieties (cultivars) of agricultural plants in the conditions of light culture to identify the sources of commercially valuable characters (resistance to stressors, early maturity, productivity, biochemical composition, marketability of products, etc.); output product - recommendations on the identification of varieties for specific growing conditions.
    • Creating a primary breeding material (lines, genotypes), adapted to specific conditions and growing technologies.
    • Express study of the effectiveness of the influence of various biologically active preparations on seed germination, the growth of seedlings and the yield of agricultural plants, taking into account the specificity of the crop and variety.
    • Development of algorithms for the accelerated introduction of new crops in the North-West region of Russia based on the study of their biodiversity under controlled (artificial light) conditions.
    • Varieties, lines and hybrids of daikon, radish, tomato, stevia own selection for the conditions of the open ground of the Leningrad region.
    • Conducting lectures, seminars on genetics and breeding of cultivated plants, as well as on advanced technologies for growing plants in open and protected ground.
